Calls & Messages Monitoring for Parents

FamiSafe Calls & Messages helps parents review a child’s call history and text messages on a connected device, including contact details, call times and durations, and message content. It can also flag suspicious words in messages so parents can identify potential risks and decide when a conversation or action is needed.

Review Call History and Contact Details

Review call logs from the child’s connected device to understand who they contacted and when, without relying on the child’s phone at that moment.
•
Call logs can refresh automatically about once an hour, or you can refresh them manually when updated records are needed.
•
View the contact name or phone number together with the call time and duration.
•
Use unusual or repeated contact patterns as a signal for further review rather than treating a call record alone as proof of a problem.

Review Incoming and Outgoing Text Messages

Review incoming and outgoing text messages from a connected child device and see who the child is communicating with and what was said.
•
Message records can refresh automatically about once an hour, or you can refresh them manually.
•
See the sender or recipient, phone number, and available message content in the Calls & Messages history.
•
Flag configured or suspicious words in messages so parents can review potentially risky conversations more quickly.

Flag Suspicious Words in Messages

FamiSafe can highlight suspicious words found in available message content, helping parents focus on conversations that may need attention.
•
Detect and highlight suspicious or parent-defined keywords in supported message content.
•
Review the flagged keyword together with the surrounding message context before deciding what it means.
•
Use alerts as a starting point for discussion about issues such as cyberbullying, harassment, or unsafe contact; automated detection may not identify every risk correctly.

Calls & Messages FAQ

How can parents monitor text messages on a child’s phone with FamiSafe?

After the child’s device is connected and the required permissions are enabled, open Calls & Messages in FamiSafe to review supported call logs and text-message history. Depending on the device and setup, additional components such as FamiSafe Kids Plus or FamiSafe Connect may be required.

FamiSafe can show available call-history details such as the contact or phone number, call time, and call duration from a connected child device. Records can refresh automatically or be refreshed manually.

Find more specific steps on our guide page.

FamiSafe supports the Calls & Messages feature for supervised iOS devices, but the setup is different from Android. FamiSafe Connect on a Windows or Mac computer may be required to upgrade monitoring capabilities on the child’s iPhone or iPad. Follow the current in-app setup instructions because feature availability can depend on the device, iOS version, and permissions.

For most families, transparency is the better approach. Explain what is being reviewed, why the feature is being used, and what types of situations would lead to parental intervention. Laws and consent requirements vary by location, so parents should also follow applicable local rules and only monitor devices they are authorized to supervise.
